To stop teen suicide, we need to act much earlier

 

According to a new study, 90 percent of Texas youth being treated for depression reported suicidal thoughts. Dr. Madhukar Trivedi is a psychiatry professor, chief of the Division of Mood Disorders and the founding director of the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care at the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He joins host Krys Boyd to discuss why suicide attempts and suicidal ideation have increased in the last decade and how the medical community and parents can help.
