Winning WWII didn’t win Black military members their civil rights

World War II could not have been won without the efforts of Black troops, yet they were denied the opportunities of white service members upon their return home. Matthew Delmont, Sherman Fairchild Distinguished Professor of History at Dartmouth College and a Guggenheim Fellow, joins guest host John McCaa to discuss the Black leaders who shined a light on the racism at home after fighting fascism abroad. His book is “Half American: The Epic Story of African Americans Fighting World War II.”

This show first aired Jan. 4, 2023.
