In the late 19th century, many Americans were obsessed with séances, clairvoyance and other so-called “psychic sciences.” Alicia Puglionesi holds a Ph.D. in the History of Science, Medicine and Technology from Johns Hopkins University, and she joins host Krys Boyd to discuss a field of study that tried to make a science of the unexplained. Her book is “Common Phantoms: An American History of Psychic Science.”
