Rangel, now Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, dropped out of high school to join the military, was wounded in Korea in 1950, and has served an impressive 18 terms as a U.S. Congressman. He tells the story in a new memoir “And I Haven’t Had a Bad Day Since: From the Streets of Harlem to the Halls of Congress” (Thomas Dunne Books, 2007).
